All Scottish Letting Agents have to be registered on a national database, undertake a training requirement and adhere to a statutory Letting Agent Code of Practice.

We at Margaret Duffus Leasing are also a member of several professional bodies that provide advice, support and training to help with these legal responsibilities, but also promote best practice and our commitment to higher standards.



ARLA - The Association of Residential Letting Agents is the UK's foremost professional and regulatory body for Letting Agents and is the Letting arm of Propertymark.  Backed by a Client Money Protection (CMP) scheme, ARLA requires members to undertake required and regular training, requires client account audits and keeps agents up to date with complex legislative changes and best practice and provides advice.  



CLA - the Council of Letting Agents is the letting agent side of the Scottish Association of Landlords and provides a comphrensive packages of membership servcies, advice, support and policy work for Scotland's registered agents.  The CLA help provide many letting agent procedures to help with best practice and consistancy across the industry along with a lettings helpline.



LAS  - Landlord Accrediation Scotland is a voluntary scheme providing Landlords and letting agents with information and training on Scottish legislation and best practice within the industry.  Acccrediation is a way of demonstrating that we have good managment practices and continually strive for best practice.



The Property Ombudsman - a UK wide independent body that offers a free and impartial servcie, resolving disputes between Consumers and Property Agents since 1990.  It provides an alternative dispute resolution service providing redress where appropriate.
